Reminder: Photo Advisory: 2011 Miss America Contestants Got "All Shook Up" Today at Pre-Pageant Pancake Pandemonium Event in Las Vegas

53 Winners Celebrated Elvis' Birthday and Miss America's 90th Anniversary Year as They Raised Awareness About IHOP's National Pancake Day Benefitting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals

LAS VEGAS, NV -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 01/08/2011 -- In what could easily be described as playful pancake pandemonium, all 53 Miss America 2011 Contestants got "all shook up" in Las Vegas this morning as they joined together for the ultimate pancake breakfast announcing their support of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and their upcoming IHOP National Pancake Day fundraising effort set for March 1, 2011. 

2011 MISS AMERICA CONTESTANTS GOT 'ALL SHOOK UP' TODAY AT PRE-PAGEANT PANCAKE PANDEMONIUM EVENT IN LAS VEGAS; 53 Winners Celebrated Elvis' Birthday and Miss America's 90th Anniversary Year As They Raised Awareness About IHOP's National Pancake Day Benefitting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals

Joining the contestants in the flipping, stacking, designing and dining of pre-swimsuit competition pancakes at the Planet Hollywood Hotel, were Children's Miracle Network Hospitals' "Miracle Children" Makayla Smith, a 12-year old girl that suffers from Leukemia, and Keaton Mabry, a 17-year-old boy with Cerebral Palsy. Both receive treatment at St. Rose Hospital in Las Vegas.

The 2011 Miss America pageant will take place in Las Vegas next Saturday night, January 15. It will air on ABC. 

NATIONAL PANCAKE DAY 2011
On March 1, 2011, over 1,500 IHOP restaurants nationwide will offer guests a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes in an effort to raise awareness and funds for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and other local charities. With a goal to raise $2.3 million, to bring the total to about $7.65 million raised in six years, funds will benefit children's hospitals throughout the U.S.

***NOTE TO EDITORS: For centuries, the English have 'flipped' for pancakes in celebration of Shrove Tuesday, which heralds the beginning of fasting during Lent. Long ago, strict rules prohibited the eating of all dairy products during Lent so pancakes were made to use up the supply of eggs, milk, butter and other dairy products... hence the name Pancake Tuesday. While IHOP's National Pancake Day typically takes place on Shrove Tuesday, this year the company will host its free pancake event on Tuesday, March 1.
